About Hand & Stone
Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa brings a lot of the health and beauty services that adults want and are willing to spend money on all under one roof. From a wide assortment of physically therapeutic massage types, to facial peels and microdermabrasion, to full body waxing, we have it all.
We ensure the safety and quality control of our services by only hiring licensed practitioners that are highly trained and capable of performing their tasks as we keep our clinics open seven days a week.
Values & History
In 2004 physical therapist John Marco had a business vision, which he executed by opening the first Hand and Stone clinic. He realized that while there were a lot of small, independently owned salons offering some but usually not all of the services Hand and Stone does, there were no national chains. He set events in motion by opening the business concept up to franchising partners in 2006.
Today there are close to 450 spas across the United States and Canada, with more on the way. Putting all of these important health services under one roof is a core reason why Hand and Stone succeeds.
Revenue growth in the massage business has exploded by 13% in the last few years, as awareness of the many benefits to the service has become mainstream. It's now valued at around 12 billion dollars a year, and Hand and Stone is uniquely positioned as the first national franchise chain to expand and sweep across the USA and into Canada.
As a result, the company is currently listed as #151 on the Franchise 500 list, proving that John Marco was right and that when massage, facials, and body waxing are coupled together and performed by sophisticated, licensed professionals, a lot of money can be made by an enterprising business owner.
Purchasing a Hand & Stone Franchise
We have developed a system that includes everything a new business owner will need to build their own Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa. We'll help you choose a location and then we'll assist with the construction. This is an industry where almost all our competitors are small local businesses. Every area that doesn't already have a Hand and Stone in it is ripe for a savvy entrepreneur to own one there.
We find once we correctly place a facility and have it up and running that the local populace tends to flock to it immediately. Most adults know the value of our high-quality services and understand that licensed professionals like the kinds we are known to hire across our brand will provide top shelf level service.
Ideal Candidate & Qualifications
You don't have to be a licensed therapist yourself. We are looking for experienced businesspeople that can manage the staff. We don't mind if you have a manager to handle the day-to-day affairs, many of our franchisees do. We mostly want professional people that will learn our system and with our guidance produce dynamic results. If you are hard working and understand common business practices like bookkeeping, inventory and staff management, marketing and publicity, and you want to help us develop a new spa in a region we currently have not capitalized on, then let's discuss working together.
Training & Support
We have a comprehensive training for new franchise owners that comprises approximately 85 hours of actual on-the-job training at one of our existing facilities, supplemented by close to 60 hours of educational learning. By the end of that curriculum you will have mastered most if not all of the nuances of running a successful Hand and Stone Massage and Facial Spa.
We'll continue to assist you with online marketing campaigns, recruiting proper staff members, and other ancillary issues that always come up when starting and growing a new business enterprise.
