About Kanga's Indoor Playcenter
Kangas is all about kids! We are America's newest and most exciting venue for kids' parties and play. Designed for children 1-11 years, kids will be entertained for hours while parents watch on from the café. Once admission is paid (children under 1 enter free), parents can relax with a coffee and a bite to eat while children run, climb, jump, and slide their way through our incredible play space. Or they may prefer to join in the fun! Parents are encouraged to play and interact with their children throughout our playcenters.
Although Kanga's is new to the U.S., our sister brand--Lollipop's Playland--has been operating internationally for over 20 years, and with 20 years and 15 million visitors through our doors, we must be doing something right! We focus on providing a safe, clean, and fun environment with the latest technology and amazing customer service. If you are looking for a franchise opportunity where every day is different and exciting, as well as a well known, internationally established brand, you could be our next franchisee!
Values & History
The first Australian Lollipop's Playland and Café was opened in Brisbane in December 1997. The brand was originally developed in New Zealand, where the idea was born from the observation that children were visiting fast-food establishments for the playground rather than the food. Lollipop's Playlands, and Kanga's, combine the best of both — an exciting all-weather indoor playground with a café on-site for parents and children. Lollipop's has since established 26 sites around Australia. With so much success in Australia and New Zealand, the brand was then expanded to Indonesia where there are currently 6 sites.
We envision Kanga's as a new "cool" brand that caters to children from 1 to 11 and promotes the fact that we are a niche, Australian export and proud of it!
Research began in the U.S. market several years ago and it was established that there is a significant gap. While there are numerous trampoline parks and inflatable type operations targeting the children's entertainment dollar, these tend to attract an older age group. Kanga's, on the other hand, focuses on providing fun, exciting, and safe play experiences for younger children.
Our playcenter model has been honed to perfection in arguably one of the toughest franchise markets in the world! Australia has high average wages, high commercial rents, intense competition, and yet our model has sustained the test of time. With the American economy strengthening and more and more parents willing to spend money on entertainment experiences for their young children, we believe that our success will continue here as well.
Purchasing a Kanga's Indoor Playcenter Franchise
To ensure a successful launch of your first playcenter, we recommend a budget of $700,000. Our franchise fee is just $40,000, and the total investment starts at $500,000. You will need liquid capital of $200,000 and a minimum net worth of $150,000 as well. Royalty fees range from 5 to 7%.
Ideal Candidate & Qualifications
Kanga's owners come from many different backgrounds, but the one thing they all have in common is a love for kids and for having fun! The best Kanga's owners are those who are upbeat and enthusiastic, able to multitask, and who can successfully recruit and lead a team of employees to deliver exceptional customer service. Prior business experience is a plus.
Training & Support
You'd be hard-pressed to find a franchise system where you get so much support! Even before you open our team will be there to help ensure your success, right from the beginning. Here are just some of the opportunities we will provide:
- Assistance with securing a suitable site, sourcing the right "playmix" of equipment, and optimum site layout and design
- Training provided by experienced people who will be there to help you through your opening weeks
- Assistance in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring quality staff
- Access to all our systems and information to help setup and operate your business, including Communications, Operations, Marketing, and Sales
