About Take 5 Oil Change

Take 5 revolutionary drive-through oil change services can be found in over 500 locations in 18 states. Proud to be an industry disruptor and automotive franchise to own, we take inspiration from the hospitality industry to transform the mundane task of getting an oil change into an enjoyable customer-focused experience.

Take 5 is one of 10 aftermarket automotive brands owned by Driven Brands. Driven Brands is the largest group of automotive aftermarket service companies in the United States, with more than 2,600 centers generating over $2.5 billion in sales in North America. The brands specialize in automotive repair, paint and collision, quick lube, and distribution. With a company like Driven Brands supporting you and a cutting edge business opportunity, this is the franchise you've been looking for!

Values & History

Take 5 began in 1984 in Metairie, LA as a traditional oil change shop, eventually growing to three shops in one area. In 1996 we revolutionized the oil change with our first ever stay-in-your-car service. The shops featured shallow pits, drive-through and synchronized oil changes, and fast, friendly service. By 2006 Take 5 had grown to 21 stores, despite being ravaged by the devastating Hurricane Katrina. Ten years later Take 5 was acquired by Driven Brands, having grown to 70 locations, and began franchising in 2018. In just one year we grew to an incredible 500 stores, and we're still expanding!

Transparency is a hallmark of the Take 5 franchise, and it drives our customer loyalty. Customers stay in their cars for the duration of the oil change, so everything's in plain view. Our business model is based on hospitality, so everything from the greeting to the free water bottle to the oil change to payment is best-in-class and done with intention.

Industry Performance

As every car owner knows, the oil change is essential to the maintenance and upkeep of a vehicle. In fact, the average vehicle owner will change their oil about every 5,000 miles. Given that there were nearly 270 million registered vehicles in operation in the U.S. as of 2016, and that 17.4 million new cars were sold in the same year, it's clear that Take 5 has found an industry with a nearly bottomless well of need. In the United States in fact, there are about 450 million oil changes performed each year, driving a $20 billion industry. And not only is Take 5 well-positioned in an ever growing market, but we have also been recognized as a franchise leader by Entrepreneur, having been named in 2019 to their prestigious Top 500 list. Great market and top franchise--join us today!
