A Big Thanks and a Little Break

For many of us, Thanksgiving came out of nowhere this year. So preoccupied were we with the many grand-scale issues of 2016, from global concerns to a national election, that when turkeys started popping up in the frozen section of the market we suddenly realized just how fast this Fall season has flown by.

Perhaps it’s time to take a step back and consider the many challenges and successes we’ve had since last Thanksgiving. And what better way to appreciate our own accomplishments, joys, and future goals than to sit down to a meal with our closest loved ones and share what we’re truly thankful for this year.

Of course, as a business owner, there are a few unique sources of gratitude that may not be at the forefront of our minds, so here’s a little list of reasons to give thanks this year:

  • 2016 gave us all some great technological advances, and the possibilities in 2017 are unimaginable! With developments in website design, global communication, cloud storage, and electronic payment, business owners have access to a range of tools that were previously enjoyed only by huge companies.
  • The real profit is just around the corner! There’s a reason Black Friday has become a national ritual: it is the beginning of the Winter holiday shopping season, and your business is sure to reap the benefits. Well into January, you’ll be both exhausted and thankful for the boost in sales!
  • Be grateful for what Thanksgiving is all about: a chance to relax with loved ones! Business owners are notoriously busy and overworked, so now’s a great time to sit back and let someone else take over.

Whether or not you can appreciate it on a daily basis, owning your own business is an incredible gift and accomplishment in itself. It is a testament to your hard work, leadership, and perseverance. So give yourself a big thanks – your business couldn’t do it without you!
