Summit for Black Business Ownership & Entrepreneurship in NJ

If you want to be a business leader in the black community in New Jersey, there are plenty of franchise and business opportunities available to you.

FranNet can help match you up with a business franchise that meets your wants and needs, from coming up with a profile to purchasing the business. We offer resources that will help your franchise find success, including a directory of web designers, financing sources, business coaches and other professionals to help build your business.

But FranNet offers those resources to everyone, and sometimes black business owners have unique needs.

That’s why we’re attending Rise Up! Empowerment for Entrepreneurs, a small business summit sponsored by the National Black MBA Association, Inc., Sigma Community Enrichment Initiative, and others.

Workshops will cover a number of topics important for new business owners, including:

  • Turning Passion into Profit
  • Choosing Merchant Services for Your Business
  • Pros and Cons of Business Franchising
  • Protecting Yourself & Your Company’s Assets
  • Social Media for Your Business
  • Researching Your Business Market
  • Stronger Business with E-Commerce
  • The Value of Legal Counsel for Your Business
  • Building Your Team for Business

One workshop of note is “Doing Business as an Minority or Woman Business Enterprise (MWBE),” which will cover some particular issues and challenges that women of color often face when building their own business.

The panel discussion, “Navigating the Changing Landscape for Small Business Ownership,” will discuss challenges entrepreneurs face as we enter 2017.

Rise Up! Empowerment for Entrepreneurs will be held in Jubilee Hall at Seton Hall University’s Stillman School of Business, 400 S. Orange Ave., South Orange.

Registration includes the panel and workshops, as well as a continental breakfast and lunch. Vendors will attend. The cost is $30 in advance or $35 at the door, with free admission for youths (limited availability).

We hope to see you there.
