What are you truly great at and how will it help you?

During this edition of FranNet’s blog, we’re going to ask you to get a little introspective with yourself. Presumably, you’re reading this because you’re interested in exploring an entrepreneurial path in life. And franchising is the way you see to get there. You may also have a preconceived notion of the type of business you want to own. But before you get all close-minded on us, we want to take you on a brief but exciting exercise. What are you truly great at and how will it help you?

Here’s a newsflash. What you’re truly great at may have absolutely nothing to do with your business acumen or your career to date. What we’re trying to do is unlock your true passion and see if it might marry up better with a franchise concept you haven’t yet considered. After all, there are over 3,000 to choose from—might as well consider more than a few options, right?

Suppose you’ve enjoyed a great career as a CPA. You’ve been successful to the point of saving up a nest egg to begin your own business someday. And you immediately think of a tax preparation franchise. No doubt that has a high chance of working out for you, but…are you utilizing your passion, or just your expertise?

Franchising is all about finding that perfect fit. And guess what? It doesn’t have to be an extension of your previous career life. What if, even as a successful CPA, your real passion was rescuing dogs and cats? Would you ever even consider a pet day care franchise? Kind of makes you think, doesn’t it? We all want to have a successful career and a happy life outside of work. With franchising, you’re getting a shot at accomplishing both. All you have to do is investigate.

We could go on and on about other examples. Successful lawyers who like to run marathons might make great candidates for a gym franchise. Successful sales executives who love to mentor young students might make great candidates for tutoring franchises. It’s all about contemplating what you’re truly great at and seeing where the exercise takes you. Talk it over with family and friends. Solicit opinions outside your close-knit circle. Above all, just be sure that when you enter the world of franchising, you’ll end up where you want to be in 10 years, not just the first six months.

When you make an appointment with a qualified FranNet representative to go over your options, we’ll make sure we ask you what you’re truly great at. Most, if not all, candidates who come to us seeking a franchise to own are already very successful individuals. After all, they have the drive and the ambition to become their own boss. We’re simply suggesting that you take several factors into account when it comes to choosing a franchise concept. And if you can manage to marry your passion with a franchise you may not have initially considered, you may turn out better for it in the long run.

If you want to read through some testimonials from some satisfied FranNet customers, we’re proud to host them right on our website. See if you can spot the hidden passion in each franchisee profile. Who knows? We may have to add you to the testimonial page in the not so distant future, right?

We’re certainly hoping so. Ciao for now!
