Values & History
The first Just-A-Buck opened in 1988 in Poughkeepsie, New York by concept founder Steven Bakst, who had already been involved in purchasing close-out and over-stocked merchandise for decades. The store was a robust success to the point that Steven decided to expand to two more stores, finally bringing on partners and getting the licenses to become a franchise operation. The first franchise store opened in 1992. While most stores are in New York and New Jersey, the chain operates all over the United States and potential franchisees can suggest a location that suits their business needs.
We make money one buck at a time!
Industry Performance
When you've been in business for over three decades it means something. While many dollar store chains have been consumed by each other and have vanished off the planet, Just-A-Buck continues to focus on our smart system of staying small and buying intelligently so that every store in our chain gets an amazing variety of products that customers genuinely want to come in and buy.
Because of our pricing, we aren't worried about the trend of people making most purchases online these days. Our stores are always full of consumers who understand the value of their own dollars and want to take advantage of our discount prices for excellent goods.
Training & Support
Because we have intentionally stayed small, we can afford to be incredibly supportive to all of our owners, staying in regular contact to maintain a high level of trust and cooperation between the central office and all of our franchise stores. We'll make sure that you have access to the best merchandise we can get into your hands. We don't just buy excellent goods and allocate them to our office-controlled stores and send junk to the franchises. Just the opposite. Our name is on your storefront. It's crucial to us that when your customers enter the store, they are delighted by what they see. Because of these strategic concepts, you will find being a part of the Just-A-Buck extended family is a worthwhile venture.
Ideal Candidate & Qualifications
Our ideal candidate is a smart business owner who is meticulous about the store looking fantastic. It is imperative to our brand's identity that the store is neat and clean, and the merchandise is positioned in an orderly fashion that makes it easy for our customers to walk the aisles and scan for the right deals.
We look for hard workers who can run a staff properly, understanding inventory and budget management along with other aspects such as marketing techniques and basic store management operations.
Purchasing a Just-A-Buck Dollar Stores Franchise
We have opportunities for businesspeople who want to own one or several Just-A-Buck stores. In fact, our very first franchisee now owns five stores and we have other owners who own several. It is not a necessary commitment to want to open more than one, and we are fine with entrepreneurs who would prefer to open and focus all their efforts and attention on making a single Just-A-Buck store great.
We are open-minded about the opportunity we are offering, and you should be too. Once we get into proper discussions about the investment required and the commitment you are willing to make, we'll discuss if you will be a single-franchise owner or if you are planning to allocate resources to an entire territory.
