About Great Clips
An established name in the hair salon industry, Great Clips has been a well-respected brand for thirty years. Far from being one of the old-timers, Great Clips salons are always on the cutting edge of technology, hair stylization, and innovation in everything that we do.
We have spread far and wide, but we aren't through yet. If you are looking for a franchise that you can not just build once, but continuously expand into a personal financial empire, then this is one of the premier franchise opportunities you should really investigate, especially since you don't have to be a stylist or personally manage the salon yourself. You manage the people that manage and work in the salon.
Values & History
The original salon was founded in 1982, and only a year later the first franchise location was opened. Now, 37 years later, the business has never been stronger or had as wide a reach as it does today. Spread throughout the United States and Canada, the chain continues to explore new areas to populate in both countries.
One of the core values of Great Clips is to give back to the communities we conduct business in. One of the primary methods we have for this is through our Great Needs, Great Deeds charity program. We also support many other local charities wherever our salons are found. Giving back is part of what we do.
Great Clips has over 4,000 salons in operation currently and is situated at #15 of the highly coveted Franchise 500 list. It would be difficult to find a flaw in the performance of the business. While many other kinds of brick and mortar businesses are regressing or even closing altogether, Great Clips continues to expand at a steady, intelligent, exponential rate.
This is because while many businesses have been replaced with online businesses or streamlined advanced technology, everyone gets their haircuts the same way they always have — by seeing a professional stylist and allowing them to go to work. The business is economy and technology proof. There are few industries where that is present, and this is not going to change.
Purchasing a Great Clips Franchise
We start all our franchisees with one salon, but the overall intention is to grow within a region over time to where each of our franchise owners are controlling 5-6 Great Clips salons. Rather than managing the actual salon itself, you will manage the business of managing salons. This means picking a great manager for the first one, and usually promoting stylists to managers from within as you progressively grow. By allowing stylists to eventually be promoted to managers, and with lots of opportunity in that regard, you will be building loyalty among your best people.
Ideal Candidate & Qualifications
We are looking for an individual who is eager to be an active participant in the business aspects of running salons and is prepared to commit to building an amazing experience for staff and customers with every outlet that is opened. In addition to acting in the capacity as the primary financial partner regarding your franchise, you are also the boss. Your managers, stylists, and other staff members will look to you as their leader. We will teach you the ropes and guide you throughout the life of your business relationship with us. But you will be the authority figure in your territory, and we look for a strong and steady hand to manage Great Clips salons at the high level of quality that meets our clientele's expectations.
Training & Support
We provide close to 100 hours of teaching and education for our franchise owners to experience. Most of it is geared towards the business side of how to properly run a Great Clips salon. We don't expect our franchisees to be stylists themselves so we will not be teaching you how to cut hair. Instead, we will instruct you on how to find the best locations, how to manage the finances of one and then multiple locations, how to recruit the right staff members so you can pamper and please all of the needs of a versatile client base. In short, we'll teach you how to oversee a great, modern salon with an established brand and what you need to do from start to finish in order to not just financially succeed, but to feel extremely rewarded by your ever-growing business enterprise and the wonderful things you'll be able to do within your community as a contributing member of our team.
