On November 16, 1972, Lawrence Joseph Witty opened the first Happy Joe's in East Davenport, Iowa. Mr. Witty was an experienced baker and had supervised a successful pizzeria. Like all brilliant innovators, he wanted to create his own unique menu, and he noticed that many of his customers would leave the pizzeria and go directly to an ice cream parlor for dessert. With the notion of serving his customers like no other before him in the region, he conceptualized Happy Joe's and the rest is history.
Now Happy Joe's is a well-known brand. While we do very serious business, we make sure that our customers never see our serious side. By encouraging parties and other family events at our large sized restaurants, and offering delicious assortments such as cinnamon buns and sundaes to go with all of our special pizza toppings, parents know they can go out for an evening for dinner and dessert and keep the kids happy without breaking the bank.
One of our core values is to never be satisfied. Once your menu becomes stale you lose your customers right and left.
