Values & History

When John Searcy founded Interstate Batteries in 1952, his vision was for the company to help its team members, distributors and partners provide for their families and give back to their communities. Selling batteries was just a vehicle to accomplish a much broader goal. He wanted to make his company about something more than profits, to work in a way that would please God. John treated people as he would want to be treated and modeled this well to his whole team, including our Chairman Norm Miller.

When Norm began to run the company in 1978, he held to these ideals and within several years Norm included "to glorify God" in our mission statement. In 2013, we further defined our purpose and articulated a set of core values with input from all our key stakeholders. Our service is a common thread. Interstate has thrived by following the golden rule, by treating others like we want to be treated. As we continue to serve our communities nationally and internationally, we look forward to building upon this legacy of quality products and reliable service for our next 65 years of business.

Industry Performance

Market & Competition

Longevity. Trust. Innovation. These are all attributes you're looking for when deciding on a franchise. And they're all found in Interstate All Battery Center. As part of a 60-year brand, we provide Outrageously Dependable service to both business-to-commercial and business-to-business clients alike.

The average consumer has 21 battery-operated devices at home. And, with each technology-driven device that hits the marketplace, the need multiplies for serious portable power. Whether it's a battery for a cellphone, laptop or a home security system, or a battery for a vehicle with multiple power drains, we are powering everything that makes life better.

The market for auto batteries has never been so rich with opportunity. Every year, millions of new cars hit the streets, even as drivers retire their vehicles later and later. When the need for a new battery hit, it's an urgent one. Our independent distributor operations provide auto batteries to repair garages, supply shops and major auto service outlets — as well as car dealerships. The businesses serving those battery needs are our customers. In every market, we find new, untapped potential.

Our wholesale distribution operations are a thriving, stable business in the automotive repair market which was predicted to hit $132 billion in 2016. That's why more than 53.5 million Millennial customers are turning to auto repair shops, our customers. No other wholesale distribution operation keeps America on the go as we do.
