STRIDE is the first and only indoor running franchise. STRIDE's treadmill-based cardio and strength classes are perfect for any level of walker, jogger, or runner—reimagining the definition of a runner. The concept of STRIDE consists of three core class formats and a unique leveling system that allows clients to take every class as a walker or runner. Each individual is able to find the workout that best challenges them and aligns with their fitness abilities.

Values & History

STRIDE was founded in 2017 in Pasadena, CA. After trying a different boutique running workout, Katie Ownbey and Misa Dugally developed an interest in opening their own boutique running experience. Katie's strong corporate background in business expansion, finance management, and contract negotiation was the ideal match for Misa's experience in education, design, and retail. Following a successful first few years in business, they formed a partnership with Xponential Fitness at the end of 2018. STRIDE fulfills the final boutique fitness vertical — running — of the Xponential portfolio, which also includes Club Pilates, CycleBar and StretchLab.

STRIDE believes that running is an essential mode of fitness. It is the most engaging, most effective way for a person to achieve both their mental and physical goals. It is empowering, inspiring, and motivating. Running is the vehicle that propels a person towards their strongest, most confident self, and STRIDE will help its customers achieve this.

Industry Performance

STRIDE taps into a universal modality--all around the world, people run. They run for both pleasure and fitness. In the U.S. 60 million people identify themselves as runners and 110 million identify as walkers. STRIDE's first to market concept taps into the potential this represents.

And that's not all. The boutique fitness industry has been steadily growing over the past ten years and is forecast to continue its growth for years to come. Between 2012 and 2015, memberships to boutique fitness studios grew by 70% in comparison to memberships at traditional gyms which grew by just 5%, and now boutique gyms comprise over 35% of a $26 billion dollar market. This is due to several factors, including the rising demand for alternatives to the big box gyms and a growing interest in health and wellness overall.

Training & Support

As part of its parent company—Xponential Fitness—-and supported by its seasoned corporate team with more than two decades in fitness franchising, STRIDE offers franchisees tremendous support, infrastructure, and knowledge to ensure their success in launching and operating a franchise. We believe extensive training drives your success--from lease negotiation to build out, recruitment to finance, and sales and marketing to sustainable business, you'll be supported every step of the way!

And not only do we provide extensive training and support to our franchisees, but we also develop all of our coaches as well. Through the STRIDE Certified Run Program, all coaches learn how to dynamically lead our class formats, practice safety and form correction, and empower clients of all ages and levels to cross their individual finish lines.

Ideal Candidate & Qualifications

There are a number of groups who make great franchisees, including those that are passionate about health and fitness, those who have business management or ownership experience, ex-corporate executives who have led a team, and finally, individuals who are passionate about running and are excited about what an indoor-running concept like STRIDE can bring to the industry. We've also started to see people who are excited about what Xponential is doing in the boutique fitness industry and the growth we're already seeing across all of our sister brands. We want them to combine their passions for business and fitness and join the STRIDE family.
