When I talk to potential franchise owners, they often tell me they want to be passionate about the product or service they sell. And for some, that’s absolutely true.
But on the other hand, think about Chick-fil-A.
I’m a huge fan of their product, but that doesn’t mean I’d be a great operator. Managing 50+ part-time employees, optimizing a drive-thru, and taking on brick-and-mortar overhead wouldn’t be energizing for me, or for most of my clients.
That’s why I usually recommend keeping “passion projects” like Chick-fil-A as side hustles, and instead investing in a business model that truly fits your profile.
Even if it’s in a category that’s less exciting than fantasy football or pickleball, it might offer far more upside.
That’s the decision I made when I became a FranNet consultant.
I love what I do in this role and still get to live out my passion for football on the side by coaching linebackers at Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy.
Come check us out on a Friday night soon. Football weather is finally here, and the playoffs are right around the corner. 1–0!
