While attending college in the early 2000s, Josh York supported himself working as a certified personal trainer in a small studio. Fitness was his passion and changing the lives of his clients through exercise was his goal. After graduating from college, York continued to train his clients in the evening and he began to paint a picture of his future. With a vision, limited resources, and his fitness experience, York invested his savings of $15,000 into a new fitness venture.

In 2008, York started GYMGUYZ in the dining room of his parent's home with a laptop, a phone, and a file cabinet which contained one folder with his client's names. He purchased a van, filled it with exercise equipment, and wrapped it with the GYMGUYZ logo. Instead of going to the gym to train his clients he began bringing the workouts to his clients when and where it was convenient for them. From these humble beginnings, GYMGUYZ has become one of the fastest-growing franchises, now operating over 200 locations in 29 states and three countries.

Ideal Candidate & Qualifications

In order to operate a successful GYMGUYZ franchise, owners must have excellent organizational and people skills This is a project management business. The ability to be a good networker is a key component to our business model. Owners do not need to have a Certification in fitness; however, basic knowledge and passion is a big plus.

Purchasing a GYMGUYZ Franchise

Purchasing a GYMGUYZ franchise is a lucrative investment--an investment that will range depending on a variety of factors. Initial startup costs generally range between $53,850 and $221,409, including the initial franchise fee. Many of our franchisees purchase multiple territories. When purchasing more than one location, there is a discount. Also, we are affiliated with VetFran and we offer a $5,000 discount off the initial franchise fee to veterans interested in a GYMGUYZ franchise.
